Article Format Guidelines
Please stick to the format when you send the article and read these guidelines.
- Introduction/Summary – Write one paragraph summarising your article.
- First line – Choose the text carefully as first line automatically becomes the META description tag of the article and affects search engine search result rankings.
- Article Text – Add bold, underlines, break into paragraphs and try bullets, numbered lists to get a better copy. As long as it’s not the main content of the article, embedding content is fine, such as video/audio/presentations/etc. Otherwise, it must be accompanied by a transcript or similar text.
- Subheadings – it’s a good idea to split your article by subheadings. Only use h3 tags.
- Link policy -There is a maximum of 3 external links (only related and essential links) to other sites. Your site link can only be added in the author by-line with the same keywords, and NOT inside the article. This is usually the most common reason for rejection.
- Images – You must supply at least one image per article as it helps to get a better reader response. Any images used must be royalty-free and used in accordance with their license. If you own the image, you are granting Marine Mammal Magazine a royalty-free license to use it by including it in the article. Include optimized fast loading images with a minimum 600px wide. You must state the source image for credits.
- Author By-line – (Please read in full as this is the most important reason for rejection). All articles need some information about the true author. Your by-line must not link to anything apart from your own website, blog of social network profile. Any link can only have use anchor text which is the same as your site title or website address. Do not link to any product or service. The purpose is to provide a platform for author exposure, if you came looking for free SEO backlinks only, this is not the right place. All links will be set to nofollow.
